Thanks guys. I going to make it in 2140 (O1) or 26C. They are carbonsteels maybe from time to time 1778. I will make it with many different handle materials. G10,micarta,stabilised woods and,crotchedwoods and masur.
I going to make them with leather and kydexsheats. I am soon going to order steels and lasercut it. Yes i think fullflats will work pretty well.

To me, the blade shape lends itself to full convex. But you know best.

Thanks Mike. Yes you right its a good design for convexed bevels. Its just that if you going to carv a lot. You maybe should have flatgrind. But for general slicing of food and meat and if you going to carv sometimes and make shelters and such its a realy good grind.

looks like a decent blade profile, personaly i would perfer high carbon steel for a bushcraft knife, and a high scandi grind, but each to his own.
what do you hope to make the scales from?

yeah thats what most people prefer. its far better than stainless in the fact that you can sharpen it to a much better edge aswell as being able to hold a sharper edge for longer.
but it will rust if wet.
most popular steel around here seems to be o1 tool steel, which holds a razor edge and can be brought back up to razor with nothing but a strop.

then agan 440c will be more resistant to rust.

Yes it can be easyer to sharpen a carbonsteel but a ss steel hold the edge longer. I have to think about the steel i think.

true, steel can be very important. but so can the heat treatment and edge geomerty.
i hand forge my blades from masonry nails, not ideal steel, but i grind the edges very thin and HT the hell out of them, so they are capable of shaving arm hair.

nahh just normal big steel nails, i heat them up and hammer them flat, then shape them.
then i heat them cherry red and quench them in warm water.
dunno how it works because nails shouldnt be any good, but for some reason ive been anble to make razor sharp blades that stay sharp.
it only started off as an experiment, but they always turn out very well.
