I am making my first knife from 01 steel. I have got it to blank stage now and i am just about to put the grind on the blank using files. But can any one tell me what is the best to use for getting scratches and markes out of the blank oil stone or wet and dry?? I was thinking of usinf an oil stone but did not know what grades to use?

Wet and Dry or Micro Mesh is best...Oilstones will not leave the same kind of shine they leave on a bevel,on the the blade itself.
