This is a knife i designed yonks ago and i have had dave make me two blades one in W2 and one in En45 (1075)

I have been using the knife and boy does this thing cut, ive cut veggies for my stir-fry done some carving and made several feather sticks and it is still bloody sharp and i mean SHARP! Just need to dye the sheath and finish edges!!

Oh and this knife is lighter than it looks due to the tapered tang and scooped out tang!

It is held together by two brass loveless bolts and has a randomly placed mosaic in the middle, oh yeah and leather liners.

Something else im missing........ got it wood is Stabalized maple burr the blade is just a touch over 4.5"

That looks ace. It also looks like a really useful in the kitchen, with the blade dropping below the front of the handle. I also love the combination of the wood and leather liners - beautiful.

Absolutely superb.......I'm not sure whether I like the knife or sheath best. But together they compliment each other perfectly.
Top quality work from both of you. :You_Rock_

Very nice piece
great compliment with leather wood and steel, especially the rough forged look.

Which steel is that one?
And which steel assuming you have handled the other one, is better? (edge retention, ease of sharpening etc?

This one is En45, the other is W2

I will make my observations after i have used the other one but at a guess the W2 should be a better steel for edge retention due to its Vanadium content, the En45 should be a bit tougher and maybe a bit easier to sharpen. whether these things will be noticable or not i do not know!
