My attempts at Leatherwork

After reading many good tutorials and articles on this forum, I decided to have a go at some leather work myself.

My first attempt was a knife sheath for my Frost Clipper - those plastic ones are just....nasty. The scout stamp was made by Kerne Forum Post Here

Then, all emboldened, I had a go at a pair of belt mounted axe sheaths for a fellow scout leader.

All in all i was quite pleased, and learnt some valuable lessons.

That was 3.2mm veg tan, and it was quite hard to work with, getting the stitching holes right. My first few attempts at sewing it were....not very good. It was only after i brought an awl that I made progress. Trying to cut 3.2mm leather with a belt hole wheel was ridiculous.

I wouldn't worry about it, all my stitching comes out wonky... even when done with an awl!

Still, practice makes perfect and all :)
