West Devon, Edge of Dartymoor!
blimey.. not seen one of those since I was a spotty cadet 30-odd years ago!

We used to use them on exercise - they were called bashas back then (in the days before the 'hootchie style'). It should have wooden poles - usually one piece, but occasionally 2-piece with a metal joining tube. and big wooden tent pegs and a mallet. The ropes are actually guy lines for pegging it out.

The lace-up doors were a right pain if you wanted to get out in a hurry - it was quicker to lift the bottom edge and crawl out :D

In the woods if possible.

British Airways lost my two-piece poles. :cussing:

... and big wooden tent pegs and a mallet ...

To my shame I replaced the pegs with galvanized steel ones. :(

I never regretted fitting a zip to the opening. :)

Haven't seen mine for at least eight years (when I last moved house). Can't even remember seeing it then but it must be there somewhere! :)
