Just been to bottom of garden to top up the bird feeders and found some mushrooms. They were growing around an old budlia (spelt wrong I know) stump amongst some fox gloves.......are they edible, are they chanterelles?????

If it is Honey fungus and I`m about 95% it is, apparently it should be removed because it can cause problems in the garden. Have a look on t`web and see what you think.
Others on here may tell you differently though.

Even more confused now........ looks more like one of the jack-o-lantern variety but the more pics of honey mushroom and jack-o-lantern I look at the more unsure I am.

It sounds like it can spread underground with black bootlace runners which then infect healthy plants and evetually kill them by starvation.

I`d wait for a definite ID by one of the pros on here before digging up your garden though :lmao:

Might be no link but the buddleia (around which the 'shrooms are growing) was fine last summer but dead this year and I am talking a good mature plant reaching a good 10 feet tall. I thought I'd 'shocked' it during the spring prune as I was practicing with my kukri - not the most suitable pruning tool.:lmao:
