Mushroom foraging....

Hi, I am new to this forum and I was hoping for some guidance on finding perhaps a course/weekend for my son(24yrs old) on which my son could learn about mushroom foraging.
He lives in Bristol but can travel if need be.

Is there anyone in particular who you'd recommend or an organisation?

Many Thanks in advance

Geoff Dann does that kind of thing. From folks who've been out with him, he seems very good too :)

I know he's based a bit away from you, but I believe he does courses across the country too.

There are a lot of very competent folks out there though; Xylaria on the forum comes immediately to mind.
If she doesn't reply to this thread, maybe give her a pm and ask ?

cheers,
M

Westonbirt Aboretum often run fungus forays with experienced people and that's about 40 minutes drive from Bristol. Bristol University has done them in the past too but I've lost touch with their adult education department.

I have looked at this link below and really like the look of this one too, but i think it maybe to far this time, but i will keep this link for any future reference as we do go to the midlands frequently.

Wildfoodschool comes with a very good reputation too.

Tbh, if I were nearer than over seven hours driving away, I'd pm Xylaria and work out how to spend time going walkabout with her :)

cheers,
Toddy

 how could I forget about Fergus ?  His website's even on my regularly checked favourite bookmarks.
http://fergustheforager.co.uk/

One of these years I'm going to plan a journey around the UK and I'm going to do one course after another; everything from quilting to weaving, from basketry to bushcraft, from foraging to forging.
I reckon that'd be absolutely brilliant :D
