  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
I've heard they're great. Like a hennessy but side entry rather than bottom. A bit heavier too, but you can't argue with the price.

Blast! Another great money making scheme flushed down the pan...

Oh well.. at leats I got an email back this morning just after posting this! Seems like stocks are low until August, so will get some then! Thanks for the link though.

Spacemonkey, just noticed your thread after searching the forum for these hammocks, could not find but decided to purchase from t.k.direct. if they have any in stock, as there website says they hope to have them back in stock second week in June.

Can't get that link to work at all, even at root. I might go for the T K Direct route as it save messing around with dollars. the originator says that OG ones will be available in August, so I'll get TK Direct to sort it. I need 2 for my next trip to Spain so the net is essential!

Hi,tk direct have them back in stock ,ordered it today as I want it for the meet,a very nice man there called Drew is sending it 1st class postage so it will arrive in time at no extra cost, postage was free anyway.

How are you getting on with this hammock WW?

can you take the supplied fixing rope out and replace it with webbing and would it suit someone of 6ft that weighs 14 stone?

I have also found these people on the web http://www.paradisehammocks.co.uk/c...id=81&osCsid=8d2f0ce69e5d8923b1f9488fcdd651a2 and at £19.95 it look ideal, the double hammock looks HUGE

Think i might buy the Dark & Silver Green version, at £20.00 doubt if you can go far wrong.

It hasn't arrived yet - my understanding is that the attached "rope" is 20 mm webbing (I could be wrong...) If not, I'll modify as required.

I did look at those other hammocks you mention - they were about to get the busines, until I saw the evilbay one... I'll let you know what it's like when I get hold of it! I'll be bringing it to the BCUK Meet as well - so should be a resonable test (or it'll be things that go bump in the night! )

EDIT:

Ok, so it arrived on Monday - nice well made hammock! Just like the Thai Hammock - double thickness with an open edge, but hemmed and seamed nicely. It came with 20mm webbing and the material is reinforced with webbing type cloth along the path the webbing rope takes, packs down small too. I'll be sleeping it at MM this weekend (if there are any free tress left to hang it from when I get there.. ;) )

I ordered one of those last week (the double one) before I went away for the weekend. It was waiting for me last night. It is similar in size to the Ecosystem but does not come with hanging ropes. I have just bought 10m of climbing tape and a couple of large caribiners to use with it. I will let you know how I get on but it looks as if it is going to be a great solution. The built in bag for the hammock makes and handy pocket when it is hung.

Got my hammock from Paradise Hammocks this monring, single in two tone green, it certainly looks like it will be up th the task of supporting this lardy.

First job when i get home is to remove the webbing from my old hammock and put it in the new one.

As you said magikelly the built in bag is a great, a bit of storage space for my smokes when i am having a kip, will take piccie of it and place on here once i have set it up the way i like it

Would you people recommend getting an open hammock or the ones which zip up down the middle? Also, in terms of length, how much should you add to your height to find the right-length hammock?

[edit]

With basha's, I'm wondering whether to go for the Kathamandu Large (2.5m x 1.8m) or the XL (2.5m x 2.5m). I am about 6ft in height. There is a difference of 100g and about £7.

I would go for the XXL one which is 3m x 2.5m. Better safe than sorry.

Is this for your own use only? Their site said with large letters that they didn't recommend the double for just one person... Any ideas why?
