showed the scouts how to make bannock the traditional way, propped against a log in a frying pan...didn't stop them adding their own "twist"...but not a twist in sight...

Guess which is mine??? :red:

How do aluminium fryingpans hold up to use over open fires?
I have always thought that there was a problem because everyone uses cast iron but I never got round to finding out what the problem would be.

How do aluminium fryingpans hold up to use over open fires?
I have always thought that there was a problem because everyone uses cast iron but I never got round to finding out what the problem would be.

Generally use the heavy old pans over open fires, as they stand up to the heat and mal-treatment dished out...and the patiner makes them beautifully non-stick. Aluminium we rarely use...but for the above "bannock bake-off" they worked perfectly well...
