i aquired a northwest bushcraft knife in a trade quite recently and found the design perfect for the way i use a knife, anyway, the only thing i didnt like where the scales, so i had it sent up to knife maker Bernie Garland to rehandle it in Stabilised Box elder burr.

heres the knife with the scales fitted and finished up, to my mind its a great improvment.:D

Typical of Garland, a very neat job and very precise. The blade looks very nice too, should be an even better user now!

Have you got a sheath for it or are you gonna get one made up for it? Something a bit special maybe?

cheers fellas,
yeah its a very nice little user, probably my favorite as it also was with the old scales.
think combination between a mora classic and a woodlore and its pretty much that, very usable, capable, strong and comfortable.

Bernie did a brilliant job on the scales, they are all in line and the handle is finished off perfectly smooth, he also did a bit of work on the grinds for me, as when i got it the knife had quite a large convex microbevel, now its back with a flatter grind and a very slightly curved belly.

As for the sheath i have a couple, the one it came with from JRE industries, but i tend to use a custom leather one with a firesteel ect, both fit very nicley.

I got Ben Orford to rehandle my Northwest Bushcrafter and make a new sheath. Superb job - makes it a real delight to use on any number of tasks.

One day, when I finally learn how, I'll put a photo up for y'all to see Ben's artistry. 'Til then, it's like living in the Dark Ages...! Sorry!
