A few weeks back we had masses of frog spawn in our pond (it's about 25 foot x 15 and nearly 5 foot deep at its deepest) but now there are no tadpoles at all. :(

Does anyone know of any preditors that will take all the frog spawn because I doubt one would lose all the tadpoles once they had emerged. I did see a few crows take off from the shallow end one morning - will they eat frog spawn?

The pond is clean - it has sticklebacks, newts, etc. so I don't think they've died of any pollutant or anything.

Ideas welcome!

Ah, Ducks - why didn't I think of that? We've had a couple of malard overnight in the pond!

I've never had the problem before but for some reason all the spawn was laid in the opposite and more open end of the pond than in previous years. If they do it next year I'll collect some and move it.

This happened to the pond at my mother's house as well. Tadpoles have hatched every year except this one. She did see a magpie shaking itself dry at the top of a tree though...
