Long story short I need suggestions for a popular choice of mod range bushcraft knife. Not looking for advice to buy as such, I'm looking at doing a bang for your buck comparison on fixed blades. Lower end the venerable Mora is making an appearance. Lower high end the fallkniven F1. But I need something between those brackets. Any ideas folks?

You could try one of the The Bushcraft Store knives. Not affiliated etc.
Only issue with them is they fall into the same price bracket as the fallkniven. Bloody good knives though I have to admit. Thinking somewhere in the 30-60 quid range. Something like a condor but maybe somewhat better known than them

The Gerber knife (thinking the Bear Grylls branded one) is about fifty quid... has all those fancy add-ons to the sheath as well.

Aye.. My vote to for a Condor.. the bushlore's are a nice all round camp knife. The sheaths alone.. must be worth a few quid :)

Possibly a bit left field for some but a Grohmann flat camper does it for me, about 60 quid if you get it sent from overseas, less if you get it in kit form.

Here's a question...and I'm not trying to start something here.
Why do you think you NEED a mid range knife. What is it about a Mora (for instance) or come to think of it a Hultafors (another 'cheap' knife) that doesn't meet your requirements? Do you need a jack of all trades (if so you'll be making a number of compromises) or a specialist tool? Do you want something ornate/bespoke? My thoughts on blades are I need a pocket knife for mobility carry/EDC; A 4" blade capable of carving wood/feathering etc, a filleting knife for large game/fish and a large blade for chopping and wood prep. Add an axe and or saw and I'm laughing.
Here's what I carry out in the wilds;
Folding lockable pocket knife (not safe for EDC in the UK but I don't ever carry a blade 'round town' ). Also a multitool such as a leatherman.
Hultafors GK - this will replace my old combat/survival knife that I've had since I was 18. Has a very good 3mm thick blade and suitable for use with a fire steel/ferro rod.
Fishermans filleting knife.
MOD Issue Golok (had it since my TA days) sharpened so it has a decent edge. With this I can chop, split and feather if I have to.

On my get list
Bahco Laplander
yet to be determined axe.

I'll only carry what I need for the environment I'm working in and the activities I expect to be carrying out (so If I'm going for a walk on the moors I wont be taking the big blades).

You can get quality blades now for silly money (Mora or Hultafors) that will hold an extremely good edge. Granted the sheaths are not to everyone's liking but you can get a basic leather sheath for a tenner, and something with a few add-ons (like a fire steel holder) for about £30.

Enzo trapper, or a second hand knife for similar price off the forum. Second hand numbers on here tend to be well loved in my experience and you can get some bargains from excellent knife makers.

To clarify I don't strictly speaking mean to buy or use full time. More as a price for price value for money comparison. To see if there is such a difference between a £5 knife and a £500 knife
