I recently got hold of some black mesh; very pleased as its not cheap new.

I intend making a few bags.

But how do I sew it? Seeing as its mostly holes.

Or am I overthinking things?

When I’ve made mesh bags, I’ve done it like any normal fabric bag, just making sure that the stitches are holding the two layers of mesh together properly.

Do you have a sewing machine with zig zag stitch? Set it very close and sew your seams like that. It's often used to finish the raw edges of seams so should work.

Buy a roll of woven cloth seaming tape. You fold it in half over the edge of the mesh and sew that sandwich together.

Help us out, how big are the holes? "Mesh" is a very broad term. There is no-see-um midge mesh that sews just like any other fabric, and various things with up to 3mm holes.

Taped seams would be the way to go.

If your zig zag doesn't quite hold, then I find it's often easiest to French seam mesh fabrics. It does create a edge that's not always appropriate for clothing, but for bags it works very well indeed.
The other seaming that works is to flat fell it, like the seam on the outside of denims.
