There's still a slim chance I can pop over tomorrow - if not then I will definitely be over for some of the other meets later here on in the year. I am a carer for two elderly types who I have also recently burdened with a psycho kitten :p Kinda limits my fun. Hopefully gorgeous tomorrow just some rain overnight - perfect.

Just got home and scoffed me kebab. Will put photos up in a while. Great to meet new people and had a fabulous time. Thought the wood looked beautiful with the wild garlic and it tasted good too! Lit my first fire with a steel (thanks FergusUK) and made 3 mods to my set up. A most excellent time folks. Thanks. John

That looks an amazing place to pitch up. Really hope I'm not working when you do the next one.

Did you put the parachute shelter up btw?

Fergus hehehe. Close enough so I'll let you off. Might be a few sticks of celery in your food next time though :D

Had a good time, was nice to put faces to names. Nipper enjoyed herself, maybe a little bit too much, so apologies if she was too much for anyone hehe. I spent all of 2 minutes in a hammock and I'm sold already. I can't wait to get out again. Now, time for a roast dinner and a nice ale methinks.

Glad you both enjoyed it mate, she was no bother at all bud, you're both welcome any time :)

The next one is looking to be the 26th but will put thread up once checked/set/confirmed.

It was good to meet everybody and hope you can make the next one. The thick carpet of wild garlic should be gone by then ;)

Yeah I noticed/heard you snoring from about 100 meters away lol

The alpkit mat was too narrow and the top quilt and wool
Blanket was a poor choice once the fire had gone down!

I'll maybe invest in a snugpak kestrel 6 with the extenda panel and a wider mat for next time.... And build the fire closer to the tarp opening :) all in all a good night.

Yeah that was probably me lol

I'll be back on the deck next meet I think. Hopefully the wild garlic will be gone by then. I wont have a fire next to my setup though as I'll be in silnyoln unless I decide on/source a canvas or oilskin tarp by then.

Nice video, it does look a lovely time. Your daughter would get on well with mine.

Couple of things to save your tools though. Try not to use the back of the axe on the knife whilst battoning, it could damage it, use a piece of wood it is more forgiving, (and mind where she puts her finger is in case of slips). When using a ferro rod, strike it with the spine of the knife not the blade as you might knacker the edge.

All the best.
