As some of you may have noticed, I've a fondness for old books about camping and woodcraft. It occurs to me that the majority of my library is American ("Camping and Woodcraft," "Woodcraft and Camping," "Camp and Trail," "Jack-Knife Cookery" and so on) and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a few British classics, preferably pre-WWI but I'm flexible on that. Britons seem to have written plenty of tales of their explorations and exploits, but I've had little success finding the equivalent of those great American 'how-to' books I love so much.
