Took the of the chaps from work out to a local wood, for their first ever hang. I am lucky that I have enough hammocks, quilts and tarps for 6ish people now (summer use, winter - prolly only 3).
Think I have made some converts. Now I have to persuade them that camping to hike is better than hiking to camp (persuade them to leave some of the unnecessary caggage behind).

Thanks to Mike for the photos, I was too busy being mother.

Mike takes good photos :D I can almost smell the ransoms and hear the water.

Idyllic looking camp there, good on you getting folks out.

Thought that after being outed as a "dayglo jessie" I'd better prove that I too can sit around a campfire talking nonsense with the best of 'em!
(and eating "real food", not dehydrated catfood)

Yeah, the bluebells are quite early this year, some are already going over. Some pretty big limbs come off recently, which was a worry. No high winds... drought stress? My missus tells me off for hanging from beech (notorious for widowmakers).

That makes me ache. If things here go as predicted, I'm going to be pruning grape vines in a snowstorm.
😆

I still can't get over the fact you've managed to find a grape variety that , not only can whitstand the weather that far North , but actually thrives in it!!
And pruning in a snow storm???!!!
😱😀
Just brilliant!

Soggy socks toasting by the fire,

Something altogether more tasty, cinnamon swirls on sticks, a good way to round off a toasted halloumi starter and posh burger main,

And a breakfast of sausage and bacon over a keyhole fire,

Are you well away from the noise of civilization?
Well, a tractor went across a field on the next valley over. Luckily didn't come our way, as we were (not so) stealth camping.

Very nice looking bit of woodland. Is it a scheduled Ancient Woodland
Yes... I expect I will go to hell! I think we will leave it alone for a few months to recover (the understory beneath beeches has a hard enough time of it anyway).
But on the bright side, we have negotiated a permission at another spot (and working on another couple).
