As a management consultant I was constantly irritated by trite trot outs pinned to office walls. These were sold by trendy office supply businesses as “motivational!”

“There is no I in team.”
One of my team, when faced with that trite nonsense from a more than usually vacuous HR flak replied

But there are three in "patronising bint"

He won a formal warning and didn't buy a drink for a year.

There MUST be sufficient book material out there from all the reasons people were invited to an H.R meeting that constituted of "no coffee-no biscuit" options revolving around cultural re-education.

@RonW
All this manic "positive thinking" and "inspirational counselling" that is being pushed nonstop has people questioning their own sanity.

That’s the point!
There is a kind of consultant/lecturer who starts by coercing clients into colluding in assessments of their ignorance and then pulling their pre-prepared solutions out of a hat and taking a bow! Some of them can even manage it in the board room.

A colleagues in the business called them the “cuff links and shiny shoe brigade.”

…….. and similar bullocks.

And separately
As an armchair philosopher, whenever I read “I think therefore I am.” I want to throw the book at the wall - which could be unfortunate as it’s usually a Kindle!
Point of order but depending on how you look at it there is an I in Team, its in its A hole.

Tampons for use in bullet wounds is another old one that never seems to die.

Debunking video

Link, video is age restricted
Given that the first half of that video is teaching people about a woman's menstrual cycle, i'm not going to give it any respect at all regarding your point. Were you ever in the military Jared? Tampons arent supposed to stop the bleeding from a bullet wound. They help in slowing the flow, while a proper dressing and pressure is applied. They give you a bit more time, but are not a solution in itself. In short, they buy time. As a side note, Condoms arent for collecting water either, but they can manage it in a pinch

Hahah. What the **** are you doing?

Tempted to post this in group with many military medics, so they can have a good laugh too.

Btw, was never in the military, closest was being trained in first aid by a retired sergeant, but was still doing TA things. That was over 30 years ago.

Mark - a while back you did ask 'what happened to the forum' , ' lack of postings ' etc - You remember?

I've a lot of time for you and respect for what you've done elsewhere - but this between yourself and Jared is a difference of opinion. On a forum. Calling out people in such away isn't conducive to that desired culture of ongoing engagement.

I'm sure Tampons can be used as a less than ideal but better than nothing tool to stem blood loss. Most armies I know issue a type of FFD rather than a tampon so I think thats deemed more optimal than a Tampon.

There is quite a bit out there now ( on the tube! ) arguing Tampons are not IDEAL and that given the option FFD type items are preferable. Maybe too many medics have seen people ignore available FFDs in preference to Tampons and felt the needed to advise the world. I don't know - But I have seen the variety of advice against. Which maybe contrary to what you have done or know.

I think there is a difference in ditch medicine and optimal medicine and I'm sure both combat medics and civilian doctors that operate in locations where gun shot wounds are highly probable have different thoughts and application of what they can source at hand to stem bloodloss.

Mark - You've definitely breathed some life back into the forum recently and challenged people to be more active and have been good to engage with.
So Kudos.

But there is also away to disagree. Politely. Civilly. That makes people more willing to stick to a forum than not.

< Peace!! >

Go get some modern training, and remember to take some tampons with you. Everyone will enjoy a good laugh.

Packing gauze would be used first if was a serious bleed. FFD would then wrap and maintain pressure on the whole lot.

Also to be clear, it's not a difference of opinion. The reason why I responded to the thread was Hill Bill's post was this comment.

"Poking a cut ,graze or burn, getting the crud out."

And think I demonstrated that is considered not the best practice. Hence why I mentioned water/saline wipes as an alternative.

Yeah, fair enough mate. I bit a little when i shouldn't have done. I haven't changed much over the years. Still here though, and other than a one week suspension back in't day (Cheers Chris C :)) I've never been banned, so i cant be that bad. :)

As i said, a tampon can buy time, but not a primary treatment. That seemed to get missed i think. Doesn't matter now. Back when i was in the military, lots of people had them when getting deployed. It was something that could potentially save your life. We're going back 20+ years here. Jared has never been in the military, and was mocking (or so it seemed to me) something he knows nothing about. So yeah, i bit a little.

Peace to you too mate. Its all gravy.

Just to add, I hope the forum does get going again. I take no credit. Other than my own posts, it aint me doing all the others. If i helped with it, then awesome. Forums are about the members who contribute. I'm good with swinging a foot and bruising a backside, and yeah, the place did need poking. I notice you have been making more posts than before, and so have others.. The few can only carry the many so far though.
