Following on from some of the darker rumblings in other threads lately I thought I'd like to say something positive about why I come to this forum almost daily.

Since joining in April last year I have learned an immeasurable amount about bushcraft, a pursuit I once believed I was unusual in following.

I have attended a number of meet ups and shared campfires with people I am now very pleased to call friends.

I would have to say my kit list has grown a bit and the group buys have been extremely useful there. Although I now own more kit, the weight I carry has actually reduced somewhat.

I have visited and posted on many forums over the years and I still visit some of them but BcUK is set as my browser’s home page simply because really I like it here. :)

So why do you come here?

I come for exactly the same reasons, although most of the meets I have been to there are some strange people about! :D
I can't get out nearly as much as I would like to, but when I do I usually have something new to try and I am always finding new ideas to pass on to my explorer scouts.
I would like to also add it is due to Tony, the moderating team and all the other members that this site is as popular and well run as it is,Thankyou and keep up the good work :You_Rock_

Well done Wayland, I was thinking about doing something similar.........
I enjoy using this site and I want to help the youngsters as much as I can now and carry on learning from you all.
I would also like to thank the mods for their patience lately and for explaining things, I am a lot more in the picture now and happier for it, I hope this continues.
Bushcraft is a great pastime and art, and I like nothing more than being out there, be it wildlife watching, or sitting by the fire in the woods whittling a spoon.
Lets all speak more of our bushcraft experences and continue to learn from each other and to support each other in what we do. This is a great site and I have met some good friends here through meets. Lets be positive folks..............Jon
ps.......Toddy, I will never mention those water fowl again.........

I came here for the fantastic wealth of info on the hobby I love, and also for the friendly atmosphere that is so unusual to internet forums. The sort of atmosphere that is being displayed in this thread. :) I hope it can keep going!

Brilliant idea Wayland,
I come here to glean snippets of information to add to the huge amount that I have taken already. If I can help someone out with the few topics I do know about then I will. It's also great to spend a bit of free time each day amongst friends that I haven't met yet!

Thank you everyone for making this such a great place to be.

I came here for its wealth of knowledge for me to begin learning from and I still come here to learn from it, but also to add to it if I can.

I come here to be able to talk to some great people that I've gotten to know and like Wayland said, am pleased to know call friends and hopefully continue to meet other new people with similar interests that i might be able to call friends in the future.

Well done Wayland for asking this.

I would like to thank Tony and the team for their efforts on our behalf. We may come over as ungrateful miserable bunch.

The reason passions rise is because people love spending time here and feel at home.

Long may it continue and grow.

Right, I,m positive that I came here to learn and to touch base with folk who had found some sort of revelation in becoming aware that it was great to be in the woods.

As a lonnnnnnng-time mariner, I,m positive that a lot here can have no perception of what it really, means to be aware of the sense of the smell of the earth , and realise you,ve never known it.

I,m positive that somebody messes with the emoticons and changes ,em around when I am not looking.

I,m almost positive that I will eventually get my head around the correct method of posting a forum link.......but, despite all helpful assistance , I aint holding my breath on this one

Howzzat sound?

Well i'm not going to type it all out again but for my point of view on this site have a look at Tony's "thanks for all the suggestions" post in the suggestions section.

It is a heartfelt post and it tells why i come here on a daily basis...

Nice one Wayland I come on here to be brought back down to earth (I have to be sensible here) not easy at 43 :lmao:
hope to see you at my first northern meet :You_Rock_

I come here to remind myself how much more there is to know. There's a lot to be said for a place where you can high quality advice, kit reviews, suggestions and the like for free!

The site rocks, the users rock.

nearly everyone i know has heard about how good this site is!

everyone knows i met people from here, i promote BCUK at work, (probably shoulden't :o )when teaching bushcraft/survival.

My BCUK T-shirt is my favourite top, it's now worn i should buy a new one!

the nasty stuff recently is just a glitch, theres to much good stuff for the site to suffer that much!

we all have our fustrations, but BCUK has helped me with many questions and answers and i hope i have done the same for BCUK!

i'm looking forward to the 25th anaversary! :D
