Really? I know there are cultural differences between here and there but I didn't realize there were species differences as well; ALL domestic cats I've ever seen bury their crap.

The term 'bury' is a loose one in this case though. They don't bury always in the literal sense...sometimes they sort of lay their logs in a depression or just dust them with soil... Can't say I've ever seen them do it on concrete though. Must be something else with similar sized chuds, like a Yorkshire terrier or something.

I suppose you have different laws or a feral population of cats? Even so what's best is you have more FIREPOWER and the freedom to use it to take them down humanely.

Cats are considered to be different to dogs.

Although you don't have a right to shoot dogs either...

Things must have changed since I lived there (mid/late 1980s) Back then the police advised a farmer to shoot dogs chasing/harassing his livestock (compare to cats killing/harassing Samon's rabbits)

The neighbour on who's path the offending article currently resides dont have a dog, the cat has been seen "cable laying" on the path and patio in the past by both myself and the neighbour though.

Don't know if the rabbits would traumatized but you might try a raptor decoy of some type. It works better than scarecrows and a good one scares cats too.

I meant the collar tag. if it doesnt have one, I regard it as a stray.

It seems cat owners want to disavow any responsibility;

"I cant control it"
"I cant put an ID collar on it, tiddles might strangle himself"
"Its not my fault if it fouls your garden where your children play"

I suppose when you've tried everything else as a reasonable person (as most here who
have this problem seem to be....), then if you happen to graze a stray with a .22 pellet
or BB while practising on your own property, then it is only an offence if you are seen
by someone who is likely to report the accident......

I've just set up a load of cd's on wire aorund the hutch/run and nailed in some sharp tacks on the top of the fence closest to the run. I'll go to the local coffee shop and see if they can give me their used grounds on moday if I'm free.

haven't seen that particular cat again yet, I threw a small potato in its direction yesterday so I may have scared it a little. If it returns (also if the others return) I will contact the owner and politely discuss the options.

Nice one, mate. Will be interesting to hear your results. I've tried the orange peel method, the pee method and also the carbolic soap method, all with mixed results. Let us know how it goes.

I was not offering advice, however I WAS stating actions that I might take if I considered the problem serious enough.
Having spent the last 18 years in countries where NO animal's habits are considered before the health and welfare of
humans I would have no problem disposing of a nuisance feline.....

I used to have a cat problem, as soon as i opened the door they were gone before my dogs had chance to catch them. I creocoted the fence all the way round my garden, (it needed doing anyway) and it seems to have stopped them.

I guess if you take into account the amount of damage cats do to the local bird, reptile and amphibian population, then there is an argument to say cat owners are responsible for a certain amount of animal abuse.

But this is more a thread for people who want cat owners to take responsibility for there animals - like the owner of ANY other animal would have too.

My point exactly, time for cat owners to be responsible and know where their cats are and what they are doing. I don't blame the cats, it's the owners that are at fault.

I can't stand it when people let them do that. I don't mind cats, some are alright, but if there's two general things I can't stand it's their excrement and the pleasure they take in killing things.

That seems a reasonable position. As far as I know its not legal for any other animal to roam onto other peoples land, I see no reason why it should be different for cats. They can be house trained, lead walked etc.

Time for the owners to be held to the same standard as all other pet owners surely?
