Knife sheath question/advise

Hey guys,

I have an old Bowie knife I was given few years ago, the sheath is in poor condition and was wondering how I go about makeing a new sheath for it.
I'd imagine the obvious answer would be use the old original as a pattern...

the main question really is where do I get the leather and anything else required? is their any tutorials? blah blah

I would make on in the original style (I have made some actually) myself using the tut as a guide on how to put it together
The gaurd make the sheath type in the tut difficult to use.
