Joining this site inspired me to get out and get building and working on stuff.
It all started with a Purchase at Lee Valley of a 4 -1/4" Mora Laminated steel blade and a GB Small Forest Axe. My goal was to make some of my own tools from these so I could make some other items, and to keep everything as local as possible. Being a Northern Ontario kid it should be easy.

First I did some decorative work to the Axe mask to make it my own.

Then I moved onto the knife handle, I used a white tailed deer antler. To fix the blad in the handle I did it the old fashioned soaking/boiling method.
Next I needed a sheath for the knife. I got a piece of moose hide and sinew from a buddy. Oh and I also sharpened one of the pieces of antler to point to use as an awl. It was so satisfying to use tools I made to make the sheath.

After I made the sheath I decided to make a small pouch to keep my char-cloth tin, striker and chert(keeping it local:))
