1= Knowledge because without this your stuffed
2= A good knife, this will give you food, fire and shelter.

And I'll second Ray's or Gary's number on speed dial under HELP!!!!

A First Aid Kit. :-D

There are normally edged tools in them and they also carry other essentials that can be used in a pinch, including tinder, Oxidising agents, sugar, painkillers, salts and a host of other things.

Try telling someone with a broken ankle that your knife or axe will ease his pain :yikes:

Hi...

If you take away knowledge, then i would go for:

1. Big knife - (not machete!)
2. Cooking pot
3. A sewing needle

These 3 things are the ones who is most difficult to make out of the materials in nature. If I should choose 3 'second class' things i'd say:

1. Firesteel
2. Cordage
3. Poncho

The most important thing you can carry anywhere with you is the will to live for with this you can over come all but the very worst odds. It easily out ranks knowledge and a good knife.

And, thanks to the nanny state and the 'blameless' societies we now live in the will to live is growing weaker and weaker.
