Does anyone know what the intended purpose of the little elastic cinch loops are on the front of the pack?

I am leaning towards something to do with crampons?

Secondly, does anyone know the best way to attach trekking poles to this pack? I've tried a few options but most are quite "ghetto"

Thanks

Matt

The loops are to hold ice axes, walking poles or anything you like......You thread them through the loops at the bottom front of the pack then attach the handles/shafts with the elasticated cord to keep them close to the pack.

Don't know what they're for, but I use mine for holding my axe. I got the idea from Paul Kirtley's frontier bushcraft. The Gransfors small forest axe fits perfectly.
