I've brought winter tyres for my van, although they were a pain to get in July but i left it until October last year and every where was sold out

If you are having difficulty getting winter tyres (like me) I found a German website that supplies to the UK (In Germany it is compulsory to fit winter tyres Oct to March) Pricing is pretty good, even with delivery.

Anyone found a good cheap Ice/snow cleat type thing for sticking over ones shoes???
I hate that moment when you think your going to slip on Ice when walking down the pavement.

Dude have a look through the site Shewie linked to on the coldest hang thread, they have the rubber fit any type cleat.

Ok found it. I was more hoping for member suggestions and reviews about what actually works rather than just making you fall over and look like a tonk!

Okay, I have used thos type but not bought from them, they were very secure didn't slip about on my shoe, but they only lasted for a few weeks being used every day, easy to slip on and off when going in and put of shops or home, qvc do some that my mum uses that have spirals in stead on spikes, she really likes them as you don't have to take them off to go inside. Hope that helps dude.

Wasn't sure I was supposed to laugh at that Southey..........but I did, so much, I spat a mouthful of lunch all over the keyboard.

You dudes must be expecting a hard winter................I once lived in Exeter for a whole year & never felt the need for 'crampons' :)

Your probably correct ,, I've been down 'this' way for a fair long time , and only had a handful of rough ( relative ) winters.
Last year was however ridiculous.. and I doubt the local authorities have stockpiled any more rock salt than last year.

Great thread.

Our central heating is in the form of a huge socialist era gas powered ceramic stove, it has a leak internally and could do with a clean, time to get mending I guess.

My winter camping gear sits in a 120 litre North Face bag, the summer gear sits in another 120 litre North Face bag, when the weather turns I drag one out and shove the other one into its place. :)
