Hello, we are off to Borneo September. Part if this trip is going into Danum valley rainforest. Given potential tropical downpours and the high humidity, can anyone recommend jungle boot brands please? I have one brand name Vivo. These are not only good as a brand but are good for having a wide toe box, no pressure on big toe joints or bunions and low sole but robust too for hiking. They drain in the wet, are bite proof. These are likely to be expensive. I’ve not checked pricing as yet. I have other vivo barefoots and they are good for my feet. Can anyone please recommend other suitable women’s jungle boots please. Then I can compare. Lightweight is a real bonus too. Thanking you all in advance.

We happen to know the chap who did the consultant design work for the Vivo jungle boot. I am hoping to see him this week (I have some kit to return to him!) and I will try to ask his thoughts.
I was happy with my Salomon jungle boots when I visited him for a few days in the jungle in 2018. We spent a fair bit of time wading up jungle streams so drainage was thoroughly tested. They were light too, but I think they are hard to find. Dedicated jungle boots seem to be increasingly hard to find.

I can't use barefoot shoes. I have too much pronation and low arches. If your feet are used to barefoot style the Vivo could work well. My friend still uses his when he is in jungle. He is happy with how the design and execution has turned out.
The Salomon that I had were the Ultras, not the newer XA model. I got them used off eBay and was very lucky to find the size I needed at the time I needed them.
I think that given the short time left before your trip next month you are going to have to swallow a high price.
Many suppliers will take returns of boots if you have not worn them outdoors. You could order different pairs and try them at home before returning the ones that are the least comfortable.

Since you're familiar with minimalist style footwear, I can recommend these:
The are available in a wide range of sizes and are great in wet conditions with the proper socks. For me that means lightweight wool socks in summer. I used these to hike down a mossy, slippery creek in the mountains this summer wading the whole time on steep terrain. They were great. Get yourself a portable boot dryer system and they will be dry in hours, ready for your next hike.
For other interested parties who aren't into minimalist footwear (no judgement, I still wear plenty of hard-soled boots... for me it's all about the zero drop), you should be able to size them to accomodate an additional insole in them if the minimalist thing isn't your speed.
Hopefully you can find them in the UK to check out; I can tell you that they are well worth the money. Have a great time in Borneo! We expect updates...
