...where i bought this little fella for £1.50!

Thought that make a nice little axe for backwoods stuff. So i knocked the old handle out and cleaned up the head.
Not having access to bundles of lovely green ash anymore, i had to look through my timber stack and found an old bearer left from a delivery that was heartwood ash.

Ripped it down and marked out the handle...

At this point i thought to myself how much easier it would be from now on if i had a shaving horse. So back to my timber stack and i pulled out some treated pine left over from a roofing job and made this;

Not as pretty as my old cleft ones all made from a single log but a lot lighter and smaller. Call it my shaving cob! So now i could finish my handle.

And from that offcut from the ash bearer i then made this!

Talk about from little acorns!
I've been impressed and inspired by some of the other posts on here, hope you like mine and thanks for looking.
Cheers.

Great stuff. More often than not it pays to spend time making tools that make the rest of play time easier.

Do you know, I don't often take an instant dislike to people! But people with your talent get right up my nose.

Lovely work mate, well jell. Really need to get out and tick off a few of these projects too. Doubt it will be worth showing on here, but might for a laugh.

Good work

Really love that shave horse mate. Been thinking of knocking on up for myself but not really had the time or materials. That looks easy enough to knock up though so chuffing well done that man!

All the best
Andy
