Is this Chaga?

Hi folks,

I`ve spent the afternoon wandering around my local woodland looking for tinder fungus. I found this growing from a broken Birch. Is this the beginnings of Chaga forming or have I got it completely wrong?

No, I don't think that is chaga.
Chaga looks like a charred alien breaking out through the bark.

Been looking for this for some time too... Below is what to look for. I might have thought the same from your picture, as in juvenile.
