Indentification please - small plant

[Bones]

I have seen this very small plant growing high up on a mountain in the peat amongst heather.
Can you identify it please? I am very curious. It almost looks like a moss, but yet it appears to be like an evergreen shrub. Is it an Alpine plant?

its a moss, club moss but what specificlly ?

Fir bog clubmoss. Accretes alum in it's roots. Used to be pulled up in huge quantities and used to create the mordant needed for dyeing.

Big mats of the boiled up stuff are found deposited in wetland areas of Viking sites like York and London, Dublin too probably.

I just read that these species are protected in Ireland, and E.U., and are considered vulnerable. Nice to know they are alive and well in my area.
