The imbolc is upon us as new life all around us is starting to show across our green an pleasant land. What are you doing for imbolc ?

This weekend we are off to Marsden for the fire festival....

Happy Imbolc folks

Pagan celebration to celebrate the start of spring, or more specfically its the mid point between winter solstice and the spring equinox. Where the warmth of spring staves off the cold of winter. At least thats what the celebrations about. :)

That looks pretty cool - most here respect the yearly cycle of seasons more than the Gregorian calendar anyhow :D
Marsden isn't too far from me - might see if I can attend.

That does look pretty cool! :)

I think the equivalent in Hungary would be the Busójárás, although that is a 'moveable' feast, but does happen around about now.

Imbolic? I knew but I'm guessing a lot don't know what this is so as with the recent motor torpedo boat thread a bit of plain English in these types of threads would be handy.

We get a lot of folk dancing around fires up on the Gurnos estate in Merthyr on a Saturday, spliff in one hand, flagon of White Lightening in the other soaking up the heat of the tyre fire :) They must worship Dunlop.
