South east Scotland.
Just thought i post a quick one to say i will be hanging up my bag and boots for a while, ive been ill for just coming up to a month, and have been in hospital for the last week, with acute kidney failure of unknown cause, ive had urine/many many blood tests/ultra sound, and ive got a kidney and urine infection that caused a rise in my creatinine levels, and bascially ive lost one stone in one week am awaiting renal and urology appointments, and probably mant more unpleasant tests, started as just the shivers at night i though i had a virus, then went to peeing all the time, not wanting to and not eating thirsty al the time, headaches etc etc, seen various consultants but they have no firm idea that they are telling me,ive googled the many long named theories they have all scary, my ultra sound did come up clear of shadows lumps on kidneys etc and there size is normal and they are unobstructed,im on strong anti biotics and my creatinine levels are dropping thats why i was released today but have to continue blood tests and wait for more appointments,,all fun, a month before i was swimming in the sea 3 hours a day doing a hour a day punch bag/maize ball/medicine ball and weight training a day then bang! ps having spent the week in a ward of poor old men with various urine infections, with pipes etc in every orrifice some away with the fairys,it really makes you think of your own mortality, that kind of suffering aint for me.

Andy, I'm really sorry to hear you've been afflicted like this.
If it's a virus though, it can clear very quickly, and there's sommat wierd doing the rounds.
We'll hope everything sorts out asap and you're back to yourself in good order.

I know what you mean about those wards, I thought we'd lost my uncle last winter with something like that, and the ward he was in was so totally depressing. That said, it takes them a bit longer, but they do bounce back and life's every bit as good as before :)

Sorry to hear of your illness, you're right it does remind you of your own mortality.

Take good care of yourself, bounce back and look forward to many more days and nights of carefree bushcrafting.
