Well. I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend with John and his team. There were 14 on the Essence of Bushcraft course, which really is just an overview of what as we all know is a massive subject, but for those who have not done anything of the sort before it's a great taster. I primarily went along because my mate fancied doing something, and I used the opportunity to brush up some skills (bowdrill, pot hanger construction and the like). When i get more chance i will write a detailed account if anyone is interested, but for now a couple of pics...

My well used bowdrill. The hearth and drill are made from Goat Willow. I managed to get a coal several times in the rain...

Hi Stovie glad you had a good time. I went on the Bowmaking course in August that they run and came away with a lovely Flatbow made from Wych Elm. John and the team are superb. I also enjoyed Chen's early morning Tai Chi sessions.
I hope to do their Bushcraft course next year and would recommend them to anyone contemplating doing a course
