I need back up!

Heading off in a few weeks for 6 weeks touring ireland and germany with my camera of course.

Ive considered several options for when it comes to backing up my photos.

One of which being bringing my laptop but i have shyed away from this idea as im running a risk of damaging it during flights etc.

So my other options are get a portable harddisk or lots more compact flash cards.

Anyone have any ideas for secure back up of RAW files while traveling?

Windows Live offers 25GB of storage if you can find a place to upload from.

I`d go for plenty of flash cards and upload them online whenever you get chance.

Unless there`s a portable memory unit with a built in card reader on the market yet ?

There is I think they're made by sweex. Plus a couple of other manufacturers
The only problem is they probably don't recognize RAW or are really expensive.

Additionally they hard drives are usually really small.

However if you have an Ipod this might be of use

It doesn't display raws but it might copy them, you'd need to look into it.

RAW files will eat up upload bandwidth. I'd take tons of flash cards and post them home.
