I read that cherry laurel is edible (although technically not a true laurel) I tried some and they aren't really worth the effort!

With the gnu!
Right, I was thinking of going sloe picking this weekend. However, just thought maybe they aren't ripe yet. I can't find any around where I am so was heading up for a "secret" spot I know in Perthshire ...... bit of trek but a fantastic area ...... was wondering if anyone in that area has seen if they are ripe yet? Should I leave it till October?

Also the old rumour about waiting for the first frost ...... is it true? I seem to remember that a stint in the freezer will have the same effect?

All else fails then its off a blackberry hunting I go.
