Off topic, but can help Tengu to steer away from two jobs:
Chicken (fowl) farm and pig farm. I did both ‘back then’ and still remember the stinging eyes and stink.

The first time you meet for a job interview is crucial.
This sounds stupid, but practice your smile/ facial expression before a mirror.
I suffer from a negative expression, almost like a frown, even when having a totally neutral, blank expression, when concentrating.
This was commented on by my first D. Nurse, the first week on my first job.
I was not aware of it!

I went home and practiced to have a ’ friendly, happy face’ .
I know this sounds ridiculous, but these days they even teach stuff like that in continuing education courses in the US ( in Europe too ?) that are about attracting new and keeping the old patients.

Ask a friend to tell you if you do ‘weird’ stuff you are not aware of.
( Sorry if I sound like a total idiot! )

Also remember it won't just fall into your lap. You have to go out and hunt up those opportunities. Then say yes, even if you don't seem to be going in the direction you want to go. Sometimes you have to go round obstacles or even backtrack and find another path .

Sorry I missed this. I have been an Autistic post graduate myself. I have not been in the same situation as you where my marks were not adequate, but I have been in the position of having to deal with lecturers who were hostile to me and who frankly did not like the idea of Autistics being at university at all. I did get support from the disability service at the Uni, I had a very good mentor, and when it came to challenging some of the awkward situations I found myself in, the Students Union helped out, or has it got past that point?

I am doctor, just not a medical one. My research topic was Autism. What I have felt most that helps most is the solidarity and experiences of other Autistic people. The biggest problem that exists in communication is that Autistic people do have empathy and can understand other Autistic people, however we find ourselves mostly in situations where we are dealing with non Autistic people who assume too much because they try and impose their world view and perspective onto ours.

Yes that is very true. It is hard for "normal" people to understand a person with autism. What works for them doesn’t nessasarily work for people on this spectrum. Ergo, normal life experience and ways of coping and thinking are as alien to an autistic person as autistic thinking is to normals.
It takes a lot of understanding and empathy with a person to help them. Knowing when to back off and not force an issue is also important.
It seems that Tengu's tutor doesn’t have this skill.

Everything is so hard for me. even ordinary things you take for granted. Autism is a dark, scary place. And evenif that is so far you. Think how it is from the inside.

I met a family yesterday, their youngest is Autistic. He is nonverbal.

I said that is ok. Things will happen in their own time, -I should have done all the things I am doing twenty years ago.

But I was too shy then.

This little lad isnt shy, -he wants to make friends.

Im sure he will turn out a great socialser...Even if he never speaks.

Hi tengu, as most have highlighted on here course work/assignments are alway second marked to reduce this kind of claim on lecturers and the University.

It still does not stop bais to individual interpretation, so if the lecturer is not that experanced in your area, they cannot mark the work in a way that allows for accommodation of different or difficult views. I used to be a university lecturer on and off for 6 years and it is difficult to mark some subjects, as you need to mark from you own knowledge and experience.

Have a chat with the lecturer, explaining your concerns, and be willing to hear them out. You should find they want to help, as that is the reason why they have taken that job. Worst case, you can ask for an alternative marker, but this will upset the apple cart a little.

Do you realise what you are doing there, it is called an ad hominem attack and is a logical fallacy which (along with whatever her parentage is, that she did not chose) is irrelevant to the message she is relaying and publicising. It is not HER message it is the plain facts as agreed by the majority of those who have studied them.

Furthermore by attacking her in this way you are also devaluing and gaslighting several people on this forum including Tengu. Why not just admit that you do not like Greta and the publicity she is getting because that is about the size of it. You may have had a very nasty science teacher who taught you chemistry but the character of the teacher in no way alters the chemical equations you were taught.

I think it is awful how people attack a sixteen year old girl. Just because her message is uncomfortable to the way they want to blindly carry on living with no thought to the future.
Even if you don't like her message you have to admit she has a very important truth.
I wonder how these nay sayers would react if it was their child doing this. Would you be saying things like she has had to put up with about your own child? Or would you be proudly supporting them?
Some world leaders have made disgusting verbal attacks on a child and it seems that others think they too can criticise with impunity.
From the mouth of babes is a saying I have often thought of when listening... and I mean listening.... to kids. It's their future after all.
It's her choice to do this... not her parents forcing her and using her to get their own message across. To be honest, I feel sickened when I hear the likes of trump and boris among others making such hateful and disgusting comments. I think she copes extremely well with everything and admire her immensely. Now there is someone who is not sitting on her backside bemoaning her lot in life and self centeredly living her life with no concern for the future of the planet, or believing that by putting a few bits of waste into a recycling box is doing your bit and is enough.
It seems that once again things have gone off track here. Maybe I should not post this as it seems that I am joining in the argument and furthering it. Not my intention. But I can't bear to think that just trying to highlight the ability of someone who has a similar condition to Tengu has achieved and give her a positive comment, can once again degenerate into an off piste rant against a child who nobody has even met.
I despair! Please stop. It's realy not the point of the problem tengu has .
Let's get back on track eh? Leave the Greta conversation to another thread if someone feels like starting another thread on that subject.
Like I say.. if it was your child would you be so dismissive and unsupportive. .. I doubt it. Think on before putting such comments on a forum please. It has taken away the meaning of what I said and it feels that my post is being dismissed as rubbish when all I wanted to do was point out that autism is not a limiting factor in life for everyone with the condition, and support Tengu with a positive comment.

Completely back-tracking to the job hunting, I've worked in engineering since leaving uni and here seems to be a disproportionate number of autistic people within the field so you may not be too out of place, have you considered working for a tech company? I used to work for one of the pharma places in Swindon and they're always hunting for chemical engineers, might be worth seeing if they have some roles there and just throw your hat in the ring, you never know what will happen. There's Patheon and Catalent to look at and a couple of smaller ones around the Wiltshire area. Failing that you always have Porton biopharma or indeed DSTL. If you need to have a chat give me a shout.
