Are these more of a splitting or a chopping profile? I'm after a carving axe but I can't justify the cost of a Swedish Carver.

The profile is more typical of a splitter but I find it excellent also for carving and have carved a flat bow and a canoe paddle just using this hatchet. Nb they have changed the design recently but the new one gets good reviews. I have one of the old ones and now one of the new ones. Both are good.
