After the coast thread how about a bit of fun with some strange or humerous place names.

In case you didn't read the coast thread there's a place in the Shetlands called 'Muckle Flugga' and not sure if it's an actual place or a company but I once passed a sign that said ****terton in Dorset http://www.****terton.com/ I don't think the name would make me want to rent one of their cottages

A mile down the road from where I live is a farm called LOST (really). One of my favourite names come from a hill spur in the glens of Angus. It's Shank of Inchgrundle. Just seems a lovely name:D .

Near Bushwacker Bobs house is a village called Upham. I can't see the signs with suspeicion that Corporal Jones wouldn't want to live there

Surreally the next village is "Lower Upham"

Then of course there is Knockin. The shop is actually called "The Knockin Shop" :D

Does France and Holland count aswell?

:D

France:
Thezac - it looks like the dutch word 'theezak' - meaning teabag.

Lascabanes - nuff said really, Harry Potter of course :D

Se*cles - if you remove the 'c' (I also got a pic of me covering it with my hand) you get the word Se*les. 'Les' is a dutch word for lesson. Didn't learnt much overthere, so the english version ('less') would do better ;)

Sexcles.jpg

Holland:
Dorst - is the dutch translation for 'thirst'. Coincidence or not ... there is a waterpurificationstation on the otherside (right in the pic) of the fence ...
