If you're going to make these I'd suggest making one shoe first from some cheap material then modifying that as a template for your proper shoes to get a better fit. Ensure you've got your full weight on your feet before you draw round them. Also cut the slots at the toe end fairly short to start with as you can always cut them deeper once you've tried the shoes on and worn them for a bit; if you make them too long you'll end up with your toes trying to peep out the end and if you wear them outside your tooties will get damp. Make sure there's plenty of body to the tabs the large lace goes through as the lace holes will eventually tear through and it's good to have plenty of material to cut new ones in.

My wife is actually in the proces of making a pair of these.
She has measured incorrectly, so the shoes are now to big around the toes.... and is now figuring out a way to correct this.
Also making them wet while wearing them makes it a lot easier for the leather to form around your foot.
