How to keep mosaic pins shiny?

I have practically finsihed making my first knife barring giving it a coat of linseed oil. But I have noticed that the mosaic pins seem to get dull after I handle the knife, but if I give them a quick buff with my multi sander they are nice and shiny again. Is there anyway I can keep them shiny, will the linseed oil do this?

you could try some camelia oil - the japanese swear by it for keeping their tools corrosion free:

otherwise ballistol seems to do everything. There's a thread on here somewhere.

As far as I can think, there are three ways to keep your pins shiny:

Constantly polish them

Don't use the knife

Don't look at the pins


sorry unless you make em out of gols and stainless steel they will always patinate and go dull

Yes as Dave said if your using the knife nothing you can do rub em with your thumb when finished using , if its not a user you could give the handle a light dusting of lacquer as they use when painting cars
