I have been reviewing the kit that I take out with me recently and I wondered how much other people tend to take with them when they step out into the wild. I always go out with more or less the same kit and I like to be prepared for most eventualities. So here's my kit list.

Rucksack: Lowe alpine kibo 65

exterior:
2x hi gear walking poles
1x 15mm roll mat
1x gerber gator2 axe
hi gear 750ml Canteen

left side pocket:
mora bushcraft knife
carbide knife sharpener
snap on pocket Binoculars
12x tent pegs
20x chlorine dioxide tabs
10x cable ties
20x stormproof matches
2x gel hand warmers
can opener

right side pocket
first aid kit
50ml Hand cleaner
10x wet wipes
2x chocolate bars
1x bar of kendal mint cake
1x flapjack
1x sport
1x signalling mirror
1x Insect repellant spray
1x sun screen spray

front pocket
100ft Paracord cut to usable lengths
6m of 6mm cordage

top hood pocket
1x pair full finger Wollen gloves
1x pair half finger Wollen gloves
1x head tube
1x led lenser h7r head torch.
1x wind up torch.
1x gelert Bivvy bag

main pack
ground sheet/Tarp
gerber folding shovel
Bahco laplander saw
vango ultralite 900 sleeping bag
2x vango non stick mess tins
2x packet meals
1x 2l platypus hydration bag
2 pairs of thermal socks
spare trousers, shirt, undershirt, long john's and jacket (basically a whole change of clothes)
1x 2.5m X 1.7m dpm basha
1x DD 3mx3m Tarp
1x 2mx2m camo net
coleman f1 power stove
2x c250 gas cannisters.

This adds up to around 17kgs which makes me feel I'm probably overdoing it. However I do like to be well prepared. I also carry a survival Tin I made up with a few bits and bobs, a gerber ultimate pro survival knife, a Compass and a Whistle on my person. So what do you carry with you out and about?

It depends really, I tend to go tool heavy when I'm in the canoe or short distance walking with a few different axes, saws, knives Etc. but I do other extremes when I only take a survival bag an axe and a knife, with food and have a shelter building night :).

In general I take more than is nescesarry, as the old saying goes "any fool can be uncomfortable". I don't go stupidly heavy just a bit more than "average" so I can enjoy myself and carve, make camp furniture etc while I'm there :).

If what you carry encourages you to stay out a little longer, or go a little further then I'm all for it. I try to stay under 10 kg for an overnight, up to 15 for a weekend. My kit changes depending on the day/ weather/ location/ duration.

As above it depends on where, when, what activites Iam doing, and the theme of the stay.. ie Boone, PAT Challenge, Responce Challenge, ect ect

I dont think I pack the same stuff any time... :).

I will also change how I sleep, Hammock, Camp Bed, On the Deck... ect

You will see loads of differances at the Suffolk meet and see what sort of kit people take drom the Kit Hores to the basic kit loadouts :)..

This is what I carry for general (comfortable) trips of multiple nights. I often do random night hikes without knowing before-hand if I'm going to be coming home or sleeping in the woods... on those trips I carry a minimalist kit (in a much smaller rucksack). I also do kit-limited challenges which vary greatly in what we're allowed to take... so obviously this list doesn't apply to those either.

Rucksack: Karrimor SF Predator 80-130

Exterior:
- Maxpedition F.I.G.H.T. medical pouch (with comprehensive FAK, too many small items to list really)
- 2x Trek poles (I don't always carry them, but let's assume I am)
- Head torch (attached to a Grimlock on my right shoulder strap)
- Luminaid inflating solar-powered lantern (attached to a Grimlock on the lid)

Sleeper Compartment:
- Snugpak Elite 5 sleeping bag

Main Compartment:
- Thermarest self-inflating mat
- Wool blanket (in a drybag)
- 3 litre (105oz) Camelbak bladder
- Cook kit bag

Cook kit bag (PLCE Rocket Pouch):
- Stainless Steel Grill (the width and height of the front of the PLCE pouch)
- Zebra Lunchbox (14cm I believe)
- Long-handled Titanium Spoon
- My own Wooden Spoon
- Titanium knife, fork and spoon (LifeAdventure brand, for what it's worth)
- Plastic folding cup
- Trangia meths stove
- Small waterproof tube of strike-anywhere matches (for the stove)
- Whatever food I'm taking dependent on the duration of the trip.

Bergen Lid (Interior):
- Sewing kit (not needed it thus far, but you never know)

Bergen Lid (Exterior):
- ESEE RC6 knife
- Mora-like knife
- Laplander folding saw
- Bergen cover (doubles as my ground sheet when hammocking)
- Some Paracord
- Some Amsteel/Dyneema
- A few meters of shotcord (found it handy to have)
- Ferro rod

Side Pouch 1 (PLCE Rocket Pouch):
- Tree straps (with karabiners attached)
- DD 4x4 (or 3x3, weather-dependent) Tarp - Ridgeline attached.
- Pegs
- Guy lines

Side Pouch 2 (PLCE Rocket Pouch):
- US GI Poncho Liner (as underquilt)
- Warbonnet Blackbird 1.1 XLC hammock
- Exped Inflatable Pillow (though I'm looking for a replacement because it's seriously uncomfortable)

depends, if I'm mobile, as little as possible, if I'm static, or as good as ie basecamp it doesn't matter, as long as I can transport it.

food @ 1kg per day
water @ 2kg carry
fuel @ 1 kg
clothes @ 1.5 kg
bag @ 2 kg
essentials anywhere @1 kg

thats what I think of most

edit

so this is for a week for a week I reccon 12.5kg, the needs to be a name for this like base weight for your kit, this could be called the sustinance weight.

Clothes,

2 teeshirts 400g
2 pants + socks 200g
1 jumper 300g
1 towell 150g
1 dry trousers 200g
1 pair of shorts for wearing at the laundrette 50g

so thats 1000g/1kg maybe another pair of clean pants as a luxury.

It really is horses for courses. im assuming you are happy with the kit you have and dont want actual items to weigh less, you just want to thin it down?

Bladder and a 750ml bottle - Bladder will suffice
wind up torch - tend to be heavy, perhaps change for a button torch as backup / emergency
Stove fuel - if its a weekend 1 250g can should easily do.
camo net - assume stealth camping is the reason for this - if not leave it
folding shovel - weigh a ton normally. ive never found a use for one. for toilet duty you can use a trowel or the heel of your boot to make a cathole
can opener - dont see any tins listed
mess tins - i find 1 enough
dont see a mug
insect repel and sun cream - not this time of year
spare clothes - looks like a lot to me but depends how long you are out. for weekends i carry 1 spare boxers, 1 socks and an extra fleece layer.
two gloves - id take the long finger and take them off for dexterity work
knife sharpener - i only take on week long trips.
tools, you have a gas stove so i assume these are for craft activities rather than fire wood prep.
lots of cordage - less?
Hand warmers - you list an ultralight bag so im assuming warmer temps and no need for these?

Bottom line if you dont strugle to carry it its all good.
