Having just lost yet ANOTHER blessed Firesteel last night (and feeling grumpy about it) I wondered how many others have lost. I think I seem to lose about one a month - what with me being a careless idiot and course attendees 'misappropriating' them. No matter how careful I am and try and keep track of them....its that single lapse of concentration that results in one escaping.

mines on cord....looped onto a knife sheath....i'm pretty high tech in this department....if trials go well we may have to spread the word about 'cordage' :p

so far so good...total lost = 0

lose kit! not me I always make sure I put things back where they come from. However finding things around the homes another issue.

None, in fact I can't remember loosing any kit other than a tent peg from time to time, but then I'm not the type who looses their rucksack and need to rely on their survival kit, nor have I ever dropped a mobile phone, or lost my map when crossing a river, all of which seem common accidents with a lot of bushcrafters;)

I voted none, as I have never lost a thing, I have on occasion placed something some where so secret, I instantly make myself delet the information, so as to not give away its location when under interrogation.

I put this lot together, and I have not lost one since.

My main problem is teaching groups (kids or adults) - I never manage to get the same number back. Maybe I should loan them out attached to cordage that is attached to yellow painted bricks!

Its disturbing how many of us are perfect eh?

never lost one i'll be honest, i keep mine in a tin and as soon as i've used it it goes back in the tin then back into the response pak.

as for teaching, i like the large yellow brick idea :D

Attach mine to a yellow length of paracord to make it easy to see and find. Considering it is such an important piece of kit I should keep it attached to my person (but rarely do) and keep spares/alterntive fire starting methods (lighter, matches etc). None lost so far but nearly lost one many times!
