Excellent: It's just a Hell of a thing when you realize that the only possible way to get the clothes you want is to make them yourself.
Sewing machines scare the carpola out of me.
Good for you.
That's great. The ability to even alter stuff to suit is a real bonus, if you can make it from scratch the possibilities are endless.
I manage to renew zips or shorten stuff and I'm expert at ripping Velcro off kit (Hate it.. ) but have yet to progress to full blown production.
Make a bow* drill! Length should be about from your elbow to your fingertips.
Experiment with different cord possibilities. Wood is OK for a bearing stone but that should not be hard to find and make.
Make some drills and point them with a nail that has the tip splayed out a little.
Drill the button holes as our Inuit people do.
* Inuit have no more than drift wood up on the tundra, there are no such things as trees.
So to be authentic, a very long rib bone (cow?) makes a very good drill bow.
Lovely idea RV but I'm afraid the button holes will be done with a cordless drill. Nice as it would be to be totally authentic. I just don't have the time to make a drill and if I have a better tool I will use it. Too much spring cleaning and gardening to do.
