Yep, I have 2, 1 for sloe gin and the other for the whisky of the week lol

Are they pewter, and if so, whats a safe length of time to keep the whisky in it for? Cheers.

I just got a pewter one, and it says on the leaflet, 'Avoid storing spirits in your flask for a period longer than 24 hours'

Seems a bit short? :dunno:

I carry my little Sunderland one allover. Usually full of something warming!
The warning on the pewter one is probably due to the content of various heavy metals. Pewter itself is a broad term though. Some alloys contain lead, and contact with some liquids would cause lead salts to form, and they're quite toxic. Britannia metal is antimony based instead of lead, so acidic liquids would release antimony salts, they cause some lavatorial distress! (lookup the everlasting pill) that being said I've drank from a pewter flask many times and had no ill effects... I don't think!

Mine arrived about a hour ago. Ive already ruined it, by pouring near boiling hot water into it, to wash it out properly which warped the front.

I am a walking disaster.

….well, funnily enough, I'm clearing cupboards, and I've just found three hipflasks. Stainless steel ones that I meant to fill with homemade sloe gin and put into Christmas parcels, and I forgot.

Send me an address Dave, and we'll call it Christmas Cheer :D I'll wrap one up and tell the post office that it's just a tool :D

I've 3 on my desk from "regular" size, to shot size. I've never used them for no other reason than I never got around to buying a funnel and only drink spirits once or twice a year (i hate cheap whisky (which includes the likes of Jack Daniels) and can rarely justify a nice bottle. Even hibiki is too expensive for my liking (although did get a bottle reduced to clear for £12 in Tesco once :) )

Have two or three different sizes one stays with the Kelly kettle and fishing kit for brewing up while on the rocks
one gets taken on over night camps and the last was free gift waiting to be used

I got a bunch of hip flasks dirt cheap many years ago and fill them for friends and rellies at Xmas ... the empties are returned in time for the next Xmas filling!
I fill them with home made Sloe Gin, Blackberry Brandy or Sloe Brandy usually....
I only carry a hip flask on solo overnighters - they are not big enough for company....

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, no, mine are stainless, they're normally filled and seen off within a day or two of camping, if they're taken :)
