I have seen knives with a little glowing green cell on them. Who makes the knives and whats the glowing thing called and where can I get them? Oh yes how long do they glow for and do they need recharging etc, etc.

Just a friendly warning tritium is radio-active Isotope although not too dangerous externally if ingested or inhaled can cause major damage to internal organs. Usually packaged in a glass vial and then embedded into a resin or other medium, it can still escape if treated roughly. It is used by the military for weapon sights etc. and the safety precautions are quite rigorous. Sorry to be a downer but that is dangerous stuff.

Even more so when it is in Nuclear Waste:theyareon

The idea is to be able to find valuable objects/records in the dark if there is a power cut or fire. Soo I need 24hr glow and not the rechargeable kind.

So radioactive glowing thing it is:eek:

Dave Budd does a few with GTLS inserts. PM him on this forum ;) The inserts have a ten year life approx and do not need charging

Hope this helps

You can get them as little key ring thingy's off ebay..........i got one, it's great for finding my pick up keys, as i lose them all the time................oh and i aint dead yet...............:yuck:

Try your local fishing shop, float bobbers.

Two types, miniature Cyalume tubes and what you want, the Tritium glow tubes. The last I bought were £5.99 for two.

Restricted in the US but they are perfectly safe. The amount of tritium in them is trivial and you would need to inhale the contents of hundreds of them all at once to have any problem.

I bought one of the ten year glow in the dark keyrings off eBay, took it apart and ended up with just the sealed glass tube isotope.

Now, I have a blackout blind in my bedroom cos i wake at the first sniff of daylight, and i couldn't get to sleep with this thing glowing bright blue on my bedside cabinet.

Search eBay for 'isotope', in the fishing section.
