i've no idea how many knives I have these days. From when I got my first penknife at 4 years old (right until I went self employed) I collected knives with a passion. I think when I last counted back when I was a student I had something in the region of 250 knives, plus assorted axes and carving tools.

Some of thse have been binned (rubbish ones), sold (good ones),boxed and stored (antiques) or have broken along the way. I still have some that are used regularly, but mostly I use a few that I have made for everything. Obviously my workshop is swimming in knives in various states of making or ruin :)

The funny thing is, that my mother STILL thinks that I will grow out of my fascination with knives. Its been my fulltime job for the last decade! :lmao:

Hi Robbi, sorry for the delay.
The knife is an Okapi that I brought back from South Africa, kind of like the African Opinel if you want.
Its a knife style that goes back a long way, historicaly I dont know much about the knife and its makers.
There is a bit of info on the web.http://www.okapi.co.za/site/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okapi_(knife)
Other than that its the general use knife in the country from gang muggings to craft carving !!
I confiscated a lot of these knives from various folk during my time in the armed response, unfortunately I gave them all to work mates and never kept a single one for my self.
Hope this gives you some info.

Brilliant info, thank you very much indeed :)

the axes had to be done on a separate pic.

cheers, and.

I thought I was being generous letting my scouts have penknives! I think bearing this picture in mind I could be a little more liberal in my views : )

Looks like a fantastic camp : )

The scouts get issued with mora knives these days. I did just use my own collection at one point. Seeing what was once a very xpensive razor sharp custom knife after scouts had been using it to saw through rocks gets to be too heart breaking to continue for any length of time!

I notice there is a Gerber Machete there. As I understand it there is a recall notice on these because the saw can get stuck and on the foward stroke people's hands were sliding off the handle and onto the blade. The relacements have hand guards
