They are interesting. I've been going there every friday for about 3 weeks to have a chat with the guy about sacks. I must have annoyed the guy but he was calm and very chatty and helpful. Needless to say we discussed my needs and came up with a design based on a halfway house between two existing models with a different selection of fabrics. Anyway the last question was the colour. Anyway I finally decided to place the order and should have it soon. A custom made sack that is light weight but stable.
They make a real selection of stuff too. From canoeing drysuits/pants/cags to pouches and bumbags. Rucksacks to wet gear bags for canoeists / kayakers. They make those tarps aimed at canoeists with the paddle sleeves and bags to hold them up. Weigh a lot though. We got talking about tarps for carrying in your pack and making it lighter. He said to lie down and use poles and other items to mark out the area you want to cover and they would make a custom tarp without all the bells and whistles of a canoeist one (with fittings to use as a sail, etc.) but a simple one for lightweight backpacking to the exact size to suit. With all the features you need and none that you don't. He reckoned on something a lot less than the 1+kg ones he sells as standard.
Chinnok - I noticed that Aiguille near the door has a load of straps, cordage and buckles. They must sell them and I'm sure yhou couldbuy some fabric from them. Otherwise Pennine Outdoors, Point North and a few others supply fabrics. Although they are aimed at the typical walker / backpacker types who probably will want blues, reds, etc rather than DPM. etc.
