Some time back on the forums there was mention of a Helly Hansen jacket Dutch military issue I believe that was 80% wool and was pile on the inside and smooth face outside.

Are these still available and have any folks here tested these jackets out for a while now and how do they like them?

TIA,
Monk

They are superb, but you'll be very, very lucky to find one nowadays.

Sold mine on as I replaced it with a worsted Merino one from Howies that I can wear 'out'. They aren't the smartest things in the world.

Very true, but it would still be worth giving the boys at Endicott's a ring.

They are a good bit of kit.

I spoke to Endicotts recently about the jacket your after. Kevin told me they have some left but only in large sizes. The other sizes of a simlar design are not made by HH but are to the same specification, although perhaps not as good quaility.
HH do still make the Luasanne Jacket which is of a simular design but is made out of polyester pile, these are very good jackets which have been a UK forces favourite for at least 20 years.
You can get these from Silvermans and they occasionally crop up on ebay. Ed

Thanks everyone for the help. Will check with Endicotts.

Any idea what the Dutch word for wool is or what they say on the label?
Was checking on the web and saw a similar surplus Dutch jacket advertised for sale but nary a mention of wool.
It's the wool one I am after.
Thanks,

redandshane, thanks for the Dutch translation help.

Well, you learn something new..did not know there were other companies making them.

Mastino,
thanks for that link..they only do large orders.

Any idea of a reputable dealer in the Netherlands who sells them online? Is there an accompanying hood that goes with the jacket?

Thanks,
Monk
