Hello everyone,
Interesting site you have going here some good threads on the go.
I have had my interest in "bushcraft" rekindled after watching the Television shows by Ray Mears and Bear Grylls.
A little bit about me.
When I was a Kid we used to Wild camp on an island in a swamp for the whole of the school holidays, I thought it was the size of the Okefenokee when in reality it is only a couple of acres. We taught ourselves how to build Dens, fires, find birds eggs, catch birds for food (we used a dustbin lid.LOL) and catch fish(mostly Perch which are very tasty) and just generally have a real fun time messing about. It was time to go home when the swallows gathered in their huge flocks.
My interest for the wildside and camping continued as I grew older but small children and the need to continue winter holidays necessitated the use of more robust equipment and we subsequently moved onto caravans.
Caravans are too removed from the reality of the situation for me and I feel like I am back home now, camping out.
Regards to all.
