I still wonder why they continue making lanterns that way though. When lanterns burned oil then of course you need the oil reservoir at the bottom, but now that we electric lanterns, why the heck to they continue to put the batteries at the bottom and the light at the top? In most tents it would be far more efficient to have the light at the bottom with a reflector to direct the light down rather than shoving the light up into the roof of the tent!
