I recently got a haversack style bag that I altered, and have been using for single day bushcrafting. I added two pockets to the front, as well as three small pockets inside. I took off the 2" nylon strap and replaced it with a 550 paracord braided strap I made. I dyed it dark brown instead od the light khaki color it was. I've really been enjoying using it. I was curious how may others use these bags as opposed to rucksacks.

I got an old cycle courier bag, which is kinda similar, and for carrying just your possibles, is way comfier than a rucksack. I use it fishing and pottering about, and obviously on a bike, cos the single strap doesnt affect your breathing like rucksack straps can.

tough as old boots too,

Yup, I'll post some pics this evening. I guess I shouls make my way over to the intro thread and introduce myself. Sorry about that. I find the haversack much more comfortable and convient to access than the rucksack. I like the fact that I can just reach into it without having to stop and take it off.

one useful feature you could add (found on courier bags) is a retaining strap. Its just a strap that runs from the main carry strap, under the shoulder that supports the strap, and fixes to the side of the bag. Theres a fastex clip in it, and when done up, it stops the bag swinging to the front when you bend over, but when undone, the bags just as normal
