  • Merry Christmas Guest, we hope that you have a great day wherever you are, and we're looking forward to hearing of your adventures in the New Year!
I'd happily recommend the Helikon Tex Bushcraft Haversack. Had mine for a few years and is ideal for a bimble and a brew. Well made, with a few organising pockets and comes in a few different colour options.

I use a Decathlon haversac. It was very cheap, is last OK and has well organised inner pockets and external mesh bottle pockets. Its main advantage for me is that because of its thin fabric it goes fully loaded with my EDC into my main pack for longer trips and can be pulled out for side trips with all i need already in it. Being small and light, i also have the option of wearing both it and my main pack simultaneously so as to have bins, map, compass, snacks etc ready to hand.

I found a mint condition 1937 pattern British Army "Small Pack" haversack in a Charity Shop for about a fiver - unrivaled value for money!
I also use a DD bumbag thing that comes with their rucksack very comfortable for less bulky loads.

I have a Journeyman Handcrafts waxed canvas haversack and I absolutely love it. Rolls down super small and has a handy hidden hatchet loop behind the main pack. I would highly recommend.

P-37 small pack. Practically unkillable if just a bit on the small side and Indian made are dirt cheap and easily waxed for that solid Bushcraft look
Agreed, I have picked up a couple very cheap over the years with 1950’s dates. I modified one with a stretcher carry strap by moving the tabs on the back to the side to get a wider buckle. The one at the front I removed the internal dividers but the other one I didn’t as actually they are quite useful, the 2 small sections at the front fit a jetboil on one and a British army water bottle and mug in the other nicely.

Nice bimble bags

Osprey shoulder bag is excellent, full loaded its comfortable, use mine a lot on the bike as it has a body strap to keep it on your back. Plenty of space and a padded pocket for lap top if you need to carry one, nice wide shoulder pad with a grip side to stop sliding.

37 pattern small packs are still cheap and plentiful though. The Indian made ones are a softer weave and slightly nicer feeling imo

Photos of With and without dividers - Optimus 111 for scale (as I got it out the loft where it has languished for 15 years!) both packs are the same size. Hole a reasonable amount tbh

Go full on Indy with a WW2 gas mask bag. Been using them for years and they’re perfect for the day. Used mine today. Water bottle, food, binos and other bits and pieces. Including a sit mat.
